The Aidan O’Brien trained ST NICHOLAS ABBEY, a graduate of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, won the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan. The victory was his fifth at the highest level and took his prizemoney to more than £4.7m.

ST NICHOLAS ABBEY was purchased at Europe’s premier yearling sale, the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 for 200,000 guineas by Demi O’Byrne from the draft of Oaks Farm Stables. The six-year-old is by MONTJEU out of the SURE BLADE mare LEAPING WATER who was herself purchased at the Tattersalls July Sale for 3,200 guineas.

The Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 was dubbed last year by leading journalist and bloodstock expert Bill Oppenheim as the “World’s top yearling sale” and yearlings can be nominated for this year’s sale online at www.tattersalls.com
