AUSTRALIA, by the Derby winner GALILEO out of the Oaks winner OUIJA BOARD, led home a 1-2-3 for Tattersalls yearlings when taking out the Group 1 Investec Derby in dominant style for trainer Aidan O’Brien. Ridden by his son Joseph, AUSTRALIA led home the bargain-priced October 2 graduates KINGSTON HILL and ROMSDAL.

AUSTRALIA, who is owned by the Coolmore team of Mrs John Magnier, Derrick Smith and Michael Tabor as well as the China Horse Club’s Teo Ah Khing, was bought by Demi O’Byrne for 525,000 guineas at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale from Peter Stanley’s Stanley House Stud. AUSTRALIA, who was bred by Lord Derby, is the sixth Derby winner since 2002 to be purchased at Tattersalls as a yearling.

Runner-up KINGSTON HILL and third home ROMSDAL were both purchased at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, the former for 70,000 guineas and the latter for 65,000 guineas.
