Tattersalls October Book 1 Purchase Ivawood Impressive Winner Of Group 2 July Stakes
220,000 guineas Tattersalls October Book 1 purchase IVAWOOD established himself as an outstanding prospect with an impressive 2 3/4 lengths win in the Group 2 July Stakes on the opening day of the Newmarket July Meeting.
Knocked down to bloodstock agent Amanda Skiffington at Book 1 of the 2013 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, the imposing son of ZEBEDEE was bought on behalf of owners Fiona Carmichael and Ian Jennings. The highest priced yearling from the first crop of the Tally Ho Stud based ZEBEDEE, IVAWOOD made every yard of the running in the Group 2 contest prompting trainer Richard Hannon to comment after the race; “He looks a Guineas horse all over.”
IVAWOOD is the first foal out of the winning RED RANSOM mare KEENES ROYALE, herself a daughter of Group 1 Prix de l’Opera winner KINNAIRD, and was sold at Europe’s premier yearling sale by Kilmoney Cottage Stud.
While Richard Hannon was looking forward to next year’s 2000 Guineas, Middleham based Mark Johnston was eyeing up this year’s St Leger after HARTNELL followed up his Queen’s Vase win at Royal Ascot with an impressive win in the Group 3 Bahrain Trophy. The son of AUTHORISED was purchased at Book 2 of the 2012 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 45,000 guineas and looks to be a leading contender for the final Classic of the season.
