The consignment from Juddmonte Farms proved the highlight of the Tattersalls February Sale with the four-year-old filly FULL STEAM selling for 160,000 guineas - the second highest price for a filly in training in the history - whilst the sale turnover, average and median all showed increases compared with 2010. A total of 164 lots were sold for 1,672,300 guineas, a 69% rise on the corresponding session in 2010 whilst the average and median rose 51% and 29% respectively to 10,197 guineas and 4,500 guineas.

The OASIS DREAM four-year-old filly FULL STEAM topped the one-day sale when knocked down to agent Tony Nerses for 160,000 guineas. The winner of a Conditions race at Chantilly took her place in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches last year, where she finished last behind SPECIAL DUTY after being severely interfered with. The Andre Fabre trained filly is out of the GONE WEST mare WESTERN APPEAL, the own-sister to European Champion 2yo ZAFONIC and the Group 1 placed ZAMINDAR and was knocked down to Nerses on behalf of his long-term client Saleh Al Homaizi after he saw off the efforts of BBA Ireland’s Patrick Cooper.

"I came without a real plan in mind, and walked away with her," laughed Nerses. "She will be a welcome addition to the stud - she has a decent pedigree which is hard to get into and she is well-rated.

"I have not got a mate in mind for her, but she was easily the stand-out to me - she is a very pretty mare."

The fifteen-strong draft from Khaled Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms realised a total of 352,200 guineas.

Following straight on from FULL STEAM was the Group 3 Park Express Stakes winner POLLEN who was consigned from Tommy Stack’s Thomastown Castle Stables. The six-year-old daughter of ORPEN out of the CHIEF SINGER mare ON AIR was knocked down to Lizzie Lyons, assistant to Irish bloodstock agent John McCormack for 114,000 guineas.

"She has been bought for an undisclosed client," reported Lyons. "John is in Ireland and I have been lucky enough to come over for him - Pollen was the one we came for."
