The Tattersalls February Sale saw rises across the board and a record turnover and median. The mares SUTTON VENY and POSTALE led the way, selling for 80,000 guineas and 72,000 guineas respectively as the one-day sale saw ** lots sell for ** guineas, a rise of **% on last year’s renewal. The average of ** guineas was a rise of **% whilst the median rose **% to a record ** guineas. The clearance rate for the sale was an impressive **%, up from **% last year.

The top priced lot for the day was the nine-year-old ACCLAMATION mare SUTTON VENY who was sold to David Redvers for 80,000 guineas, in foal to LOPE DE VEGA.

"She seems good value," said Redvers, "and is carrying to one of the most promising young sires we have seen in a long time. She will probably visit Havana Gold, whose first early foals are very pleasing."

LOPE DE VEGA, who stands at Ballylinch Stud, enjoyed great success with his first crop of runners last year which included the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes winner and Champion two-year-old BELARDO as well as the Group winners BURNT SUGAR, HERO LOOK and ROYAL RAZALMA.

The ZAMINDAR mare POSTALE, consigned from the Juddmonte Farms draft was the second highest price for the day at 72,000 guineas when knocked down to Nicky Howarth and Chris Murray’s Whitwell Bloodstock. The six-year-old mare was offered carrying a CACIQUE three-parts relation to Group 1 Prix Jean Prat winner MUTUAL TRUST.

“We'll probably look at Invincible Spirit line horses for her," said Howarth, alluding to the cross that was showcased by triple Group 1 winner Kingman last year.

"We're gradually improving the broodmare band and she's a very nice addition. I think she would have been impossible to buy in December so she looks value. Hopefully you'll see the Cacique back here at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale."

Tweenhill Stud’s David Redvers also signed for the highest priced filly for the day when he secured the DANSILI filly NIGHT PARTY for 62,000 guineas. The winning Darley consigned filly was rated 90 at her best and is a grand-daughter of LA COLORADA, the Champion German two-year-old filly and dam of German Champion three-year-old LOMITAS.

At the conclusion of the 2015 Tattersalls February Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented;

“The Tattersalls February Sale will never be the highest profile sale in the Tattersalls sales calendar, but in its relatively short history it has established a global reputation as a consistent source of quality. The dams of both European Champion 2 year old filly TIGGY WIGGY and leading Oaks contender TOGETHER FOREVER were both purchased at recent renewals of the February Sale and it is success at the highest level that attracts so many buyers from throughout the world every year.

 “Since the 2013 February Sale every Tattersalls sale except one has shown growth and today’s sale has continued the momentum with a depth and diversity to the trade that is the hallmark of so many sales at Park Paddocks. Today's turnover and median are both records for the February Sale, with the significant consignments from Darley, Juddmonte Farms and Shadwell Estates as ever proving popular with buyers at all levels of the market. Above all, the 2015 February Sale has provided a positive start to the year and has demonstrated a market which continues to thrive."

The next sale at Tattersalls is the Craven Breeze Up Sale, Europe’s premier breeze up sale, to take place on April 14 – 16.
