Tattersalls has agreed to sponsor the Irish 1000 Guineas for the next three years starting in 2015 in addition to its existing sponsorship of the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas and Tattersalls Gold Cup.

The three races will take place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th May with the weekend rebranded as the Tattersalls Guineas Festival.

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said:

"The Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival promises to be one of the highlights of the European racing calendar. To sponsor two Classics and one of Europe's premier 10 furlong races over two days demonstrates the Tattersalls commitment to Irish racing and reflects the support we receive at our sales from all sectors of the Irish racing and breeding industry."

Tattersalls have also agreed to contribute additional resources to enable the prize money for the Tattersalls Gold Cup to increase from 210,000 euro to 250,000 euro, with the objective of attracting the top middle distance horses in Europe. The first entry stage for the Group 1 contest closes this Wednesday 18th March.

Paul Hensey, Curragh Racecourse General Manager commented:

“We are delighted to enhance our partnership with Tattersalls and their support of three of our premier races will give us extensive opportunities to attract the very best horses and boost attendance over both days.  This is further positive news for us as we fast approach the start of our 2015 racing season”
