Godolphin owned HARTNELL continued the great run of Tattersalls graduates in Australia with an emphatic win in the Group 1 BMW at Rosehill. Consigned by the Castlebridge Consignment and purchased for 45,000 guineas by Mark Johnston at Book 2 of the 2012 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, HARTNELL is the second Tattersalls sold Godolphin owned Australian Group 1 winner in consecutive weekends, following the win of 130,000 guineas Craven Breeze Up purchase CONTRIBUTER in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes.

Group 1 placed at two, HARTNELL won the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot and the Group 3 Bahrain Trophy for trainer Mark Johnston before leaving for Australia after finishing seventh behind KINGSTON HILL in last year’s Group 1 St Leger.

The four year old gelded son of AUTHORIZED is the second foal out of the ANABAA mare DEBONNAIRE from the family of 1991 Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner SUAVE DANCER. DEBONNAIRE’s first foal ROZ won the Listed Star Stakes and was second in the 2012 Group 1 Fillies’ Mile for trainer Harry Dunlop.
