It certainly was a ‘Super Saturday’ in Meydan for graduates from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale who won four out of six Group races on the card.

The highlight of the evening was TRYSTER’s late run to win the Group 1 Jebel Hatta Stakes with a dazzling turn of foot.  Steered to victory by William Buick wearing the Godolphin blue silks, the son of SHAMARDAL was adding to a Group 3 victory a fortnight earlier in the Dubai Millennium Stakes.

Trained by Charlie Appleby, the graduate from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale was bought by John Ferguson for 150,000 guineas from Herbertstown House Stud.

Earlier on the card, last year’s Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner POSTPONED made a victorious comeback in the Group 2 Dubai City of Gold Stakes under the guidance of Andrea Atzeni.

The son of DUBAWI, now in-training with Roger Varian, was bought at Tattersalls October Book 1 by John Warren and Charlie Gordon-Watson for 360,000 guineas, consigned by Highclere Stud.

The Group 3 Meydan Sprint Stakes was won by FITYAAN who fought hardest in an exciting three-way finish.  Ridden by Paul Hanagan, the locally trained son of HAAFHD was bought at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Shadwell Estate Company for 100,000 guineas from Usk Valley Stud.

Further Group 3 success came when MUARRAB ran away with a 5 length victory on the dirt in the Mahab Al Shimaal Stakes.  Another successful purchase by Shadwell Estate Company at Tattersalls October Book 1, who bought the son of OASIS DREAM from Stratford Place Stud for 280,000 guineas.

Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale takes place from October 4 – 6 and nominations for the sale are now being taken.
