The Tattersalls December Foal Sale got off to a solid start and it was a colt by KYLLACHY that achieved the highest price on the opening day when selling for 48,000 guineas. A total of 260 lots were sold for 2,102,350 guineas, at an average of 11,243 guineas and a median of 8,000 guineas.

It was a son of Cheveley Park Stud resident KYLLACHY that topped proceedings on the opening day of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale when selling to Kate Barclay for 48,000 guineas.

Consigned by Brook Stud, the chesnut colt is out of ROYAL APPLAUSE mare AMICABLE TERMS, the dam of two winners and a half-sister to the Japanese Listed winner KEI WOMAN from the family of French Classic winner RIVERMAN.

Dwayne Woods of Brook Stud commented:

"We bred the dam Amicable Terms and bought the grand-dam a while ago. We have lots of the family, including further back we have a half-sister to Rock Of Gibraltar.

"This colt looks speedy, he is a really straight forward individual, sound and has a great temperament. He deserved to make that price and I wish all the best to the new connections."

A son of GREGORIAN achieved the second highest price on Day 1 of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale when selling to the farm that stand the freshman sire, Rathasker Stud, for 47,000 guineas.

Consigned by Maywood Stud, the February foal is out of winning mare MISKIN DIAMOND, a half-sister to Group 1 Phoenix Stakes-placed CATCH A GLIMPSE, the dam of US Grade 3 winner SUCCESSFUL OUTLOOK.

Madeline Burns of Rathasker Stud commented:

"He is a strong foal, with a great temperament.  Gregorian seems to be getting them of a type and this colt is fairly typical. He is from a good farm too."

Bearstone Stud were responsible for the third highest priced foal of the day.  Catalogued as Lot 328, the son of DELEGATOR out of winning KYLLACHY mare IRRATIONAL was sold for 43,000 guineas to Tony O’Callaghan of Tally-Ho Stud, fending off competition from eventual underbidder Maurice Burns of Rathasker Stud.

O'Callaghan said:

"Delegator had a good year from limited opportunities - this is a nice colt & will be back for resale.  We have a couple to breeze and this horse walks well and has plenty of bone."

A trio of foals made 40,000 guineas, the equal-fourth highest price on the opening day of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale.  The first of those was the colt by Darley’s first season sire SLADE POWER out of BEDOUIN DANCER, an own-sister to Group 3 winner SUMMER FETE, who was bought by Larry Stratton from Plantation Stud.

Later on in the day, from the consignment of Cheveley Park Stud, the PIVOTAL daughter of EXPECT made 40,000 guineas when selling to Tom Malone.  The March-born foal is out of a half-sister to Listed winner DON’T TOUCH, hailing from the family of Group 1 winners ECHELON and INTEGRAL.

The final foal to make 40,000 guineas was the Ballybin Stud consigned son of FOXWEDGE out of MARJU mare CARSULAE who was bought by Margaret O’Toole.

The Tattersalls December Foal Sale continues at 9.30am on Thursday, November 24th
