65,000 Guineas purchase Latrobe wins the G1 Irish Derby

The Group 1 Irish Derby was won by 65,000 guineas October Book 1 purchase LATROBE for trainer Joseph O’Brien with Rostropovich completing a one-two for Europe’s premier yearling sale. 

LATROBE is from the first crop of 2,000 Guineas and English and Irish Derby winner CAMELOT who trainer Joseph O’Brien rode to success in his four Group 1 victories. His victory is the first at the highest level for his sire CAMELOT who is also a graduate of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. LATROBE, who is out of the Shamardal mare Question Times, was purchased at the 2016 renewal of the sale by Joseph O’Brien for 65,000 guineas from the draft of Lynn Lodge Stud. 

The Aidan O’Brien trained ROSTROPOVICH completed a one-two for October Book 1 purchases when finishing second and the son of FRANKEL was a 1,100,000 guineas purchase.

Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale takes place from October 9 – 11.
