Archetype Headed to King’s Cup in Saudi Arabia

The Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale is a major attraction for buyers from the Middle East and one horse headed for sunnier climes is ARCHETYPE who was sold for 335,000 guineas. The Timeform 110-rated four-year-old was purchased by Saad Bin Mishraf and Ted Voute on behalf of Prince Faisal Bin Khalid's Red Stable, the leading stable in Saudi Arabia.

Bin Mishraf, representing the Prince, said;

"He is a lovely horse, the all-round package. He should suit our racing and our surface, he will be one we hope for the King’s Cup."

The King Abdulaziz Champion Cup, known as the King’s Cup, is run in February and JORVICK, who was purchased by the same connections here in 2016 from the Juddmonte draft, finished second in this year's renewal.

ARCHETYPE was consigned by Simon Crisford's Kremlin House Stables on behalf of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing's Wordsworth syndicate.

Mulcaster Secures Mr Reckless for 240,000 guineas

The Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale has been a fruitful hunting ground for Australian trainer Chris Waller and his bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster who today teamed up to secure MR RECKLESS for 240,000 guineas.

Consigned from Jamie Osborne’s The Old Malthouse in Lambourn, the three-year-old son of RECKLESS ABANDON out of the DOYOUN mare ZARABAYA is rated 103 by Timeform.

"He is exactly the sort of horse we are looking for," reported Mulcaster. "We took a look at him early in the year and have been following his progress and we are delighted to get him.

"He gets the 1m1f very well and might stretch a little further. The prize-money for races that suit him has recently gone up in Sydney, so hopefully we'll have some fun!"

200,000 guineas Whitlock Returns to Gosden

Cheveley Park Stud’s three-year-old colt WHITLOCK is set to stay with trainer John Gosden after being purchased by Charlie Gordon Watson Bloodstock’s Will Douglass for 200,000 guineas.

The Timeform 100-rated own-brother to the Group 3 winner and Group 2-placed colt ZONDERLAND was consigned to the sale by The Castlebridge Consignment and was most recently second off a BHA Handicap mark of 87 at Nottingham.

"He is going back to John Gosden, and hopefully he will give his new connections some fun," said Douglass. "He might go jumping further down the line."

Jack Regan and Buffalo River Set for Australia

Two lots that are destined for Australia are JACK REGAN and BUFFALO RIVER who were both knocked down for 180,000 guineas. The first of them was the Ian Williams-trained JACK REGAN who was bought by Australian bloodstock agent Jim Clarke on behalf of Melbourne-based trainer Trent Busuttin. The sale was a great result for owners Dominion Racing Stables who purchased the horse here one year ago for just 22,000 guineas.

Moments later agent Paul Moroney secured the John Gosden-trained BUFFALO RIVER, also for 180,000 guineas. The two-year-old was also consigned from The Castlebridge Consignment and was purchased by Moroney on behalf of his brother Mike Moroney who trains at Flemington, Melbourne.

Moroney commented after the sale;

"I actually saw this horse as a yearling in the US - he made my final list then.

"Buffalo River's form reads really well - he finished a good third to subsequent Group 1 winner Royal Marine on just his second start. He is still looks quite babyish so he will head to Australia and will be given plenty of time to chill out, six months or so, to grow up both physically and mentally."

The Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale continues at 9.30am on Tuesday, October 30.
