Catalogued as lot 159, the bay filly by GALILEO out of the MARK OF ESTEEM mare LADY KARR had received a significant catalogue update following the second by her two-year-old brother and Derby prospect MIKHAIL GLINKA who finished second in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud earlier this month. The filly, whose dam is a brother to the 2006 Derby winner SIR PERCY, was knocked down to the Duke Of Bedford for 275,000 guineas after he saw off Blandford Bloodstock’s Tom Goff and London Thoroughbred Services’ James Wigan. The filly, who was consigned from Bill and Tara Dwan’s The Castlebridge Consignment is set to go into training with John Hammond at Chantilly in France.
The second highest price for the day was another filly with lot 212, the daughter of HIGH CHAPARRAL out of the AKARAD mare DIAMONAKA knocked down to Dwayne Woods for 210,000 guineas. Consigned from Maurice Burns’ Rathasker Stud, the filly’s pedigree is littered with Group and Listed winners including the Group 1 siblings DIAMILINA and DIAMOND GREEN. Woods secured the filly on behalf of Stobart Transport’s Andrew Tinkler and indicated that she would be joining trainer Tom Dascombe at Manor House Stables in Cheshire.
The December Yearling Sale also saw the final three yearlings by the great SADLER’S WELLS to go through a sales ring. Topping the trio was the colt out of the Champion DARSHAAN filly L’ANCRESSE who was knocked down to Tom Goff for 160,000 guineas after he saw off BBA Ireland’s Patrick Cooper. Goff indicated that the colt would be joining Newmarket based trainer John Gosden.
Goff had earlier been underbidder to Amanda Perratt on the PIVOTAL colt out of the GRAND LODGE mare GRANDALEA. Consigned from the Morrin Family’s Pier House Stud, the colt was knocked down to Perratt for 190,000 guineas on behalf of an existing owner and represented a massive pinhooking return for his owners who had purchased him at the 2008 Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 16,000 guineas.
The Tattersalls December Foal Sale starts on Wednesday, November 25 at 10am.
