Craven 2YOs Also Eligible for £15,000 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Bonuses

Owners of two-year-olds bought at the 2023 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale will once again be rewarded with multiple bonuses as Tattersalls will offer the £250,000 Tattersalls Craven Royal Ascot/Group 1 Bonus for the third year running in addition to the lucrative and widely acclaimed £15,000 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Bonus scheme which has already paid out £555,000 in bonuses.

The £250,000 Tattersalls Craven Royal Ascot/Group 1 Bonus will offer a £125,000 bonus for the first Craven Breeze Up winner of any of the six two-year-old races at this year’s Royal Meeting, with £100,000 being paid to the owner and £25,000 to the vendor of the horse. An additional £125,000 bonus, with the same £100,000/£25,000 split, will also be paid to the first Craven Breeze Up winner of any of the 15 European Group 1 races open to two-year-olds, including the all-age Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York and the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp.

Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas winner and European Champion Two-Year-Old NATIVE TRAIL won the inaugural £125,000 Tattersalls Craven Group 1 Bonus in 2021 when producing a dominant performance in the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh. The Charlie Appleby-trained colt was a 210,000 guineas purchase by Godolphin at the 2021 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale and added the £125,000 Tattersalls Craven Group 1 Bonus to a £15,000 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Bonus won on his debut. Consignor Oak Tree Farm collected a £25,000 share of the £125,000 prize for NATIVE TRAIL’s victory and had previously purchased him with Margaret O’Toole for 67,000 guineas from Kildaragh Stud at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented:

“The £250,000 Tattersalls Craven Royal Ascot/Group 1 Bonus reinforces our commitment to rewarding owners with multiple bonuses. The introduction of the bonus in 2021 immediately captured the imagination of owners and trainers and we were delighted that European Champion Two-Year-Old NATIVE TRAIL was able to collect the £125,000 Tattersalls Craven Group 1 Bonus for Godolphin before going on to win the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas last year.

“The bonuses further enhance the appeal of a sale which produces a consistent flow of top class two-year-olds, with last year’s sale producing twice as many Group/Listed performers as any other 2022 European breeze up sale as well as two Classic winners in NATIVE TRAIL and 1,000 Guineas winner CACHET.

“Running alongside the ever-popular £15,000 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Bonus, the multiple bonuses reward numerous owners and as NATIVE TRAIL demonstrated, the prospect of an owner winning multiple Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Bonuses is very real.”

The 2023 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale will take place April 17th – 19th, with all two-year-olds breezing on the morning of Monday 17th April on the Jockey Club Estates’ watered gallop at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse.
