1,000 Guineas Winner Cachet to be Offered at Tattersalls December Mares Sale
Brilliant 1,000 Guineas winner CACHET is to be offered at the forthcoming Tattersalls December Mares Sale which will take place from December 4th - 7th. Trained by George Boughey for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, the four-year-old is an intended runner in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes before she joins a stellar line up in the second edition of the Sceptre Sessions, which will be held on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th December.
CACHET claimed a memorable front running victory in the 2022 Classic beating subsequent Group 1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes winner PROSPEROUS VOYAGE and Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner TUESDAY with Group 1 winners DISCOVERIES, TENEBRISM, WILD BEAUTY and ZELLIE further down the field. It was a first Classic and Group 1 success for her trainer George Boughey, and CACHET very nearly completed a notable double just 14 days later when beaten a head into second in the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches.
The Classic winner had previously won the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes on her first start at three and was also top class at two, having finished third in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile behind Cartier Champion two-year-old and four-time Group 1 winner INSPIRAL and runner up in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes.
CACHET had first shown her aptitude for the challenges of Newmarket’s Rowley Mile racecourse when breezing impressively at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale, where she was purchased by Highclere Agency for 60,000 guineas from her breeder Hyde Park Stud.
CACHET’s sire ACLAIM is a Group 1 winner from the flourishing ACCLAMATION sireline and she is out of the TEOFILO mare POYLE SOPHIE, a half-sister to the dam of Group 3 winner WHISPER NOT. Multiple Classic and Group 1 producing sire TEOFILO is also emerging as a broodmare sire of note, with 2000 Guineas winner COROEBUS, Irish 2000 Guineas winner MAC SWINEY and the Prix du Moulin and Prix d’Ispahan winner DREAMLOPER among the Group 1 winning progeny of his daughters.
Highclere Racing’s Harry Herbert commented;
“Cachet became Highclere’s first domestic Classic winner when winning the QIPCO 1,000 Guineas last year. She provided her 20 share owners with the absolute thrill of a lifetime at Newmarket and many will be there to see her sold at Tattersalls in December. Brilliantly bought by Jake Warren and trained to perfection by George Boughey, she is a stunningly beautiful filly with great presence.”
Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony added;
“Cachet is the first 1,000 Guineas winner to be offered as a horse in training at the Tattersalls December Sale since Ravinella in 1988 and it is a great privilege to be asked to offer her on behalf of Highclere Racing who originally bought her at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale. Cachet is an outstanding race filly and offers owners and breeders a very rare opportunity to buy a Classic winner who is still in training.”
