£150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes to be Run Over Seven Furlongs in 2025

Tattersalls is to increase the distance of the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes, run at Newmarket Racecourses’ Rowley Mile Racecourse, to seven furlongs from 2025. Previously run over six furlongs, the £150,000 contest is open to graduates of Books 3 and 4 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale as well as graduates of the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale. The race will take place at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile on 4th October 2025.

Graduates of Books 3 and 4 of the 2024 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale will also for the first time be eligible for the £100,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes, run over six furlongs at Newmarket’s July Course on 23rd August 2025. 

Allowing graduates of Books 3 and 4 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale to run in the both the £100,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes and £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes, as well as extending the race distance from six furlongs to seven for the latter contest, will offer even greater opportunities for purchasers at any of the three Tattersalls yearling sales to win significant prize money.

In addition to the £100,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes and the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes, the Newmarket-based auctioneers offer the lucrative £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus for all yearlings purchased at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. To date, almost £9 million in Book 1 Bonuses have been paid to owners of more than 360 winners.

Books 3 and 4 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale will take place on the 17th and 18th October, and the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale on the 2nd and 3rd September.
