Book 1 purchase Alice Springs wins the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes
ALICE SPRINGS was a fitting winner of the Group 1 Tattersalls 250th Anniversary Falmouth Stakes this afternoon at Newmarket’s July Festival when seeing off her rivals by an impressive two and a quarter lengths.
The three-year-old filly, ridden to victory by Ryan Moore, was bought by MV Magnier at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 550,000 guineas. Consigned by Glenvale Stud, the daughter of GALILEO is an own sister to Group and Listed performers CRITERIA and KINGSTON JAMAICA.
Out of winning DANEHILL DANCER mare ALEAGUEOFTHEIROWN, the Aidan O’Brien trained ALICE SPRINGS was improving on two placings in Group 1 company earlier in the year when third in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and third in the Group 1 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, chasing home her stablemates MINDING and BALLYDOYLE.
Runner-up VERY SPECIAL made it a one-two in the Falmouth Stakes for Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. The daughter of Ballylinch Stud’s LOPE DE VEGA, a half-sister to the ill-fated dual Group 1 winner CHRISELLIAM, was bought by John Ferguson for 280,000 guineas.
Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale takes place October 4th - 6th.
