Dam Of Dual Derby Winner Harzand To Be Offered At Tattersalls December Sale
HAZARIYA, the dam of this year’s dual Derby winner and leading Arc contender HARZAND, is to be offered for sale at the forthcoming Tattersalls December Breeding Stock Sale which takes place November 28th to December 1st.
HAZARIYA will be the highlight of a quality consignment of 22 mares in foal to be offered at the Tattersalls December Sale from Newsells Park Stud. An outstanding broodmare as well as being a Group 3 winner from a top Aga Khan family, HAZARIYA has produced four group/Listed performers from her first five foals, including the Dermot Weld trained superstar HARZAND who is the Timeform highest rated 3 year old colt trained in Britain or Ireland this year with a rating of 128.
The daughter of XAAR is in foal to top stallion INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, and has a yearling filly by FASTNET ROCK and a filly foal by DANSILI, both of which are to be retained by Newsells Park Stud.
Commenting on HAZARIYA and their December Sale consignment, Newsells Park General Manager Julian Dollar said;
“Broodmares the quality of HAZARIYA are very rare jewels and after the extraordinary update to her pedigree we felt it made sound commercial sense to offer her at the December Sale. We were very fortunate to have acquired her, and equally fortunate that we now have two outstanding half sisters to dual Derby winner HARZAND for Newsells Park to race and ultimately add to our broodmare band. HAZARIYA is obviously the star of our December Sale consignment, but she is in good company as the team also features a further 13 Group/Listed performers or producers.”
Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;
“It is rare for the dam of a dual Derby winner to be offered for sale, and even rarer in the year of the Derby triumphs. The sale of HAZARIYA offers breeders an almost unique opportunity. She is a superb individual with an impeccable breeding record and is coming from one of the finest nurseries in Europe. The Tattersalls December Sale is the perfect stage for a broodmare of such quality, especially in our 250th year."
