Floral Splendour Blooms in the Tattersalls Online September Sale
The Tattersalls Online September Sale was topped by three-year-old FARHH filly FLORAL SPLENDOUR who sold for 36,000 guineas to the bid of Castle Construction North East Ltd.
Offered as Lot 26 by James Tate’s Jamesfield Stables on behalf of Rabbah Bloodstock, the lightly raced FLORAL SPLENDOUR had attractive form leading into the sale. The three-year-old filly is already a winner from just three starts and has placed third on one occasion. FLORAL SPLENDOUR is out of RED TULIP, a half-sister to Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed LEGENDARY, and comes from the family of Champion two-year-old filly RED CAMELLIA.
Successful purchaser Colin Dorman commented on the future plans for the filly:
“I am really excited with the filly and I think the new trainer will be too! She will go to Iain Jardine. She will go straight there so Iain can have a look at her and she will spend the winter at Cliff Stud. I was looking for something that hadn’t been raced much that we could start off with next year. She has only had a couple of races and has won once and I thought that was good form for a filly. Hopefully we can build on that next year. She comes from a good trainer and they have decent horses. We are very much looking forward to racing her on.”
The second top-priced Lot was National Hunt prospect JIPEKAA MACHIN, offered as Lot 7 by trainer Hugo Merienne. Having placed third in all three career starts in France, the three-year-old son of SAONOIS attracted a winning bid of 35,000 guineas from trainer Donald McCain.
The French based consignor was very pleased with the sale and saw great advantages to selling with Tattersalls Online:
“We are very happy with the sale and wish his new connections every success with him. We have sold a couple of horses online this year and it is a great way to reach a wider audience. We wouldn’t have physically taken the horse to a sale in England at this point so selling through Tattersalls Online made a lot of sense. It was a very easy process and the team at Tattersalls have been very helpful and we will no doubt continue to use the online platform whenever we have the right candidate.”
Lot 17, offered by Alliance Bloodstock, WONDER ELZAAM was sold for 31,000 guineas to the bid of Yousef Alturaif from Saudi Arabia. Middle Eastern interests were also responsible for the purchase of Lot 18, ACCRINGTON STANLEY, who was placed second at Chepstow just three days prior to the sale. The Tattersalls Online September Sale realised a gross of 175,800 guineas from the sale of 18 Lots, with a top price of 36,000 guineas. The sale attracted significant interest from the Middle East with buyers registering from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. Interest was also high amongst domestic and European participants with registered bidders from the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as Italy, France, Spain, Germany and Belgium.
The next Tattersalls Online sale will take place on the 20th – 21st of October with entries now open on the Tattersalls Online website.
