Grade 1 Double in Canada for Tattersalls October Book 1 Graduates
A Grade 1 double on the card for Ryan Moore at Woodbine yesterday also signified a Grade 1 double for Tattersalls October Book 1 as he steered to victory CURVY in the EP Taylor Stakes followed by CANNOCK CHASE in the Canadian International Stakes.
The David Wachman trained daughter of GALILEO, CURVY, was bought by MV Magnier at Book 1 of the 2013 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 775,000 guineas from Lofts Hall Stud. A half-sister to Coolmore’s first season sire POWER, the Grade 1 EP Taylor winner was adding to victories in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes earlier in the year.
Out of the INCHINOR mare FRAPPE, she is from the Oppenheimer family of GLATISANT and FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND. Anthony Oppenheimer’s Hascombe & Valiant Stud, who are enjoying a fantastic season courtesy of Group 1 Derby and Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe victor GOLDEN HORN, also bred CANNOCK CHASE, the winner of yesterday’s Grade 1 Canadian International Stakes.
The son of Lane’s End stallion LEMON DROP KID, who flew home to win the Grade 1 at Woodbine in convincing fashion, was bought by Charlie Gordon-Watson for 310,000 guineas at Tattersalls October Book 1 in 2013. Out of the HORSE CHESNUT mare LYNNWOOD CHASE, the Sir Michael Stoute trained CANNOCK CHASE is an own brother to Group 2 winner PISCO SOUR.
