DIARA ANGEL, the half-sister to the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf winner WROTE heads a quality catalogue for the 2013 Tattersalls February Sale that takes place Thursday 7th February and can now be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com. In total the catalogue numbers 315 lots – the largest Tattersalls February Sale since 2007 – and comprises broodmares, fillies/horses in training, weanlings and two-year-olds.
DIARA ANGEL, the six-year-old daughter of HAWK WING out of the GREEN DESERT mare DESERT CLASSIC, will be offered by Voute Sales carrying a HIGH CHAPARRAL three-parts sibling to the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf winner WROTE. DESERT CLASSIC herself was sold at the 2012 Tattersalls December Mare Sale for 875,000 guineas. Voute Sales also offer ARTISTIC LIGHT, the winning FANTASTIC LIGHT half-sister to the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase winner and Group 1 Melbourne Cup runner-up RED CADEAUX.
Leading owner/breeders Darley, Juddmonte Farms and Shadwell Estates all have significant consignments with 23 fillies and mares coming from Darley and a further 15 from Juddmonte Farms. Amongst the eyecatching lots from Darley are the three-year-old filly CRIMSON LANE, a daughter of Grade 1 Beverley D Stakes winner CRIMSON PALACE, and LONE ASCENT, a three-year-old daughter of DALAKHANI out of the Group 1 Oaks winner INTREPIDITY. The Juddmonte team features the Listed placed RAIL LINK filly BIT BY BIT as one of seven fillies on offer, as well as two mares in foal to the proven Group 1 sire ZAMINDAR.
Recent Group 1 winners LORD SHANAKILL, TOTAL GALLERY and DIM SUM are all out of mares purchased at the Tattersalls February Sale as is last season’s Group 2 July Stakes winner ALHEBAYEB and mares in foal to proven Group 1 sires AUSSIE RULES, COMPTON PLACE, DUTCH ART, HIGH CHAPARRAL, IFFRAAJ, KHELEYF, KYLLACHY, MOTIVATOR, NAYEF, ROYAL APPLAUSE, SIR PERCY, SIXTIES ICON, WHIPPER and ZAMINDAR as well as promising Group 1 winning young sires DREAM AHEAD, MAKFI and PACO BOY look set to attract breeders from throughout Europe and further afield.
Pinhookers look equally well catered for with a diverse selection of weanlings by top sires including BAHAMIAN BOUNTY, COMPTON PLACE, DUTCH ART, EXCEED AND EXCEL, HALLING, MOTIVATOR, NAYEF and ROYAL APPLAUSE as well as by first crop yearling sires AQLAAM, ARABIAN GLEAM, EQUIANO and MAWATHEEQ.
The Tattersalls February Sale has also established a reputation as a consistent source of horses in training with the Listed Cheshire Oaks winner GOOD MORNING STAR bought here for 9,000 guineas in 2012. Amongst those horses in training that look certain to attract attention are the John Gosden trained four-year-olds HILL STREET and FLUCTUATE, rated 87 and 88 respectively. EQUITANIA, consigned from Alan Bailey’s yard comes into the sale as a last start winner off 88.
Commenting on the 2013 Tattersalls February Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;
“In its short history, the Tattersalls February Sale has quickly established itself as the equal of any other European midwinter sale and the 2013 renewal of the sale looks set to attract a wide cross section of domestic and international buyers. It is a good commercial catalogue catering for so many different requirements and as usual the sale will be preceded by the ever popular TBA Stallion Parade which starts at 10.00am followed immediately by the sale.”
The catalogue can be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com and is available from Tattersalls and all Tattersalls overseas representatives now.
