Half-Sister to Dewhurst Winner Chaldean Heads Tattersalls December Foal Sale Catalogue
The catalogue for the Tattersalls December Foal Sale is online now at www.tattersalls.com and will be available in print shortly. Numbering 1172 lots, the December Foal Sale will take place Wednesday 23rd November to Saturday 26th November.
Europe’s premier foal sale boasts an outstanding catalogue, with no less than 153 foals by the current top 15 active British and Irish sires and 209 by the current top 20, including ACCLAMATION, CAMELOT, CHURCHILL, DANDY MAN, DARK ANGEL, DUBAWI, FRANKEL, HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, KINGMAN, KODIAC, LOPE DE VEGA, MEHMAS, NATHANIEL, NIGHT OF THUNDER, NO NAY NEVER, OASIS DREAM, SEA THE STARS, SHOWCASING and STARSPANGLEDBANNER.
The catalogue also features own and half brothers and sisters to 161 Group and Listed winners, including eleven Group 1 winners. These are headed by a KINGMAN half-sister to Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes winner CHALDEAN and half-brothers to this year’s Classic winners CACHET and ELDAR ELDAROV, by MEHMAS and LOPE DE VEGA respectively.
CHALDEAN, who was bought for 550,000 guineas by Juddmonte Farms at the 2020 renewal of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, is out of the remarkable DUTCH ART mare SUELITA whose progeny include the Group 2 Mill Reef winner ALKUMAIT, the Listed winner THE BROGHIE MAN and the Listed placed duo GET AHEAD and GLOVES LYNCH. Breeders Whitsbury Manor Stud will consign CHALDEAN’s half-sister by KINGMAN, whose daughter COMMISSIONING won the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile on Friday.
The WOOTTON BASSETT half-brother to Group 1 Commonwealth Cup winner GOLDEN HORDE, the KINGMAN half-brother to Group 1 Nassau Stakes winner LADY BOWTHORPE and the INVINCIBLE ARMY half-brother to this year’s Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner LEZOO are amongst other highlights, alongside a SEA THE STARS half-sister to Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes winning two-year-old SAKHEER and Group 2 winner LEMISTA.
There are 92 foals out of Group and Listed winning mares catalogued including TOO DARN HOT colts out of the Oaks winner TALENT and Group 1 Irish St Leger winner VOLEUSE DE COEURS and a KITTEN’S JOY colt out of St Leger winner SIMPLE VERSE. A SAXON WARRIOR filly out of the Group 1 winner SULTANINA, a DUBAWI filly out of Group 2 winner SANS EQUIVOQUE and a SEA THE MOON colt out of the Champion French filly FLOTILLA are amongst the other highlights.
Record breaking Champion sire FRANKEL, responsible for the top four lots at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, has nine foals catalogued including the half-sister to Group 1 winner ACCIDENTAL AGENT out of ROODLE, the half-brother to Champion German two-year-old colt WONDERFUL MOON and a filly out of Grade 1 Beverley D Stakes second AWESOMETANK. As ever, first crop sires feature prominently with a total of 24 represented including Classic and Group/Grade 1 winners CIRCUS MAXIMUS, EARTHLIGHT, GHAIYYATH, GOLDEN HORDE, HELLO YOUMZAIN, HONOR A P, KAMEKO, KING OF CHANGE, MOHAATHER, PERSIAN KING, PINATUBO, RIVER BOYNE, SANDS OF MALI, SOTTSASS and WITHOUT PAROLE.
The largest consignment is the team of 54 foals coming from Richard Kent’s Mickley Stud followed by the 46 catalogued from Barton Stud, whilst Genesis Green Stud, leading consignor at the 2021 December Foal Sale, has a team of seven foals. The 2020 Tattersalls December Foal Sale has thus far produced two Group 1 winning colts in Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes winner BLACKBEARD and Dewhurst Stakes winner CHALDEAN, and their vendors Norelands Stud and Whitsbury Manor Stud will offer consignments of 15 and 24 foals respectively.
