Hoo Ya Mal Wins £20,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus and Almost £60,000

40,000 guineas Book 1 purchase HOO YA MAL racing clear in the Convivial Maiden

The Andrew Balding-trained HOO YA MAL looked a smart prospect winning Britain’s most valuable two-year-old maiden, the Convivial Maiden Stakes at York, as well as a £20,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus. In total owner Ahmad Al Shaikh earned almost £60,000 in combined prize money having purchased the son of TERRITORIES at Book 1 of the 2020 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for only 40,000 guineas.

Commenting on HOO YA MAL’s lucrative win, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;

“This is what the £20,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus is all about. It is fantastic to see so many different owners being rewarded with Book 1 Bonuses and we couldn’t be more pleased for Ahmad Al Shaikh and the Andrew Balding team who have embraced the Book 1 Bonus scheme from the word go. They’ve had an extraordinary year with their 2021 Book 1 two-year-olds having won the Group 2 Coventry Stakes with Book 1 Bonus winner BERKSHIRE SHADOW who they bought for only 40,000 guineas and now they have won nearly £60,000 with HOO YA MAL who was also bought at Book 1 for only 40,000 guineas.”

By TERRITORIES out of the MONTJEU mare SENSATIONALLY, HOO YA MAL was bred and sold by Meon Valley Stud who have 11 yearlings catalogued for Book 1 of this year’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale including a FRANKEL filly out of the Group 2 winner JAZZI TOP and a KINGMAN colt out of the great racemare SPEEDY BOARDING.

Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale takes place Tuesday 5th – Thursday 7th October. All 502 yearlings catalogued are eligible for the £20,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus scheme which has paid out almost £6.5 million in bonus prize money to date.
