Japan Cup Success For Tattersalls December Sale
The Tattersalls December Mare Sale received a timely boost this morning when GENTILDONNA became the first three-year-old filly to win the Group 1 Japan Cup. Already the winner of the fillies’ Triple Crown in Japan this year, GENTILDONNA beat the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe runner-up ORFEVRE into second place before surviving a stewards inquiry to register her fourth victory at the highest level.
GENTILDONNA, by the former Japanese Horse of the Year DEEP IMPACT, is out of the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winning mare DONNA BLINI who was purchased by Katsumi Yoshida’s Northern Farm at the 2006 Tattersalls December Mare Sale for 500,000 guineas. GENTILDONNA is the second foal out of DONNA BLINI, the first being the Group 3 winner DONAU BLUE.
The December Mare Sale, which takes place from December 3 – 6 features two half-sisters to DONNA BLINI in LITTLE BOOK and SISTER MOONSHINE. The four-year-old LIBRETTIST mare LITTLE BOOK is catalogued as lot 1516 and offered in foal to INVINCIBLE SPIRIT as part of draft from The Castlebridge Consignment whilst the six-year-old mare AVERTI mare SISTER MOONSHINE will be consigned from the draft of Heatherwold Stud in foal to SAKHEE’S SECRET.
The Tattersalls December Sale starts Monday, November 25 with the December Yearling Sale, followed by the December Foal Sale from November 28 – December 1 and the December Mare Sale from December 3 – 6. Catalogues are out now and available from Tattersalls or Tattersalls representatives and online at www.tattersalls.com
