October Book 1 Updates Aplenty on Arc Day
The Group 1 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe provided a remarkable 1-2-3 for trainer Aidan O’Brien with the four-year-old FOUND leading home stablemates HIGHLAND REEL and ORDER OF ST GEORGE. The efforts of the latter two provided timely catalogue updates for their siblings who are catalogued in Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale this week.
The GALILEO four-year-old FOUND is a daughter of the dual Group 1 winning mare RED EVIE who was bought by Kern/Lillingston for 58,000 guineas at Book 1 of the 2004 October Yearling Sale before winning nine of her 15 starts including the Group 1 Matron Stakes and Group 1 Lockinge Stakes for trainer Michael Bell. She was then sold privately at the December Mare Sale after being initially bought back for 1,000,000 guineas.
Placings in the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe to HIGHLAND REEL and ORDER OF ST GEORGE provided timely updates for their October Book 1 siblings. HIGHLAND REEL’s own-sister is catalogued as lot 109 and with Group 2 Great Voltigeur winner IDAHO another sibling, the Camas Park Stud offering looks set to be one of the most sought after lots. ORDER OF ST GEORGE , who won the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, has a DECLARATION OF WAR half-brother catalogued as lot 460, to be offered by Clare Castle Stud.
Earlier in the day SPEEDY BOARDING made it two Group 1 wins in succession when landing the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera and providing another huge catalogue update for her FRANKEL half-brother in Book 1. Catalogued as lot 5, the son of the Listed winning mare DASH TO THE FRONT, will be consigned by breeder Meon Valley Stud.
Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale takes place October 4 – 6.
