Partial Floors Stud Dispersal Amongst Highlights of Tattersalls December Sales
The partial dispersal of stock from the late Duke of Roxburghe’s Floors Stud is set to be amongst the highlights of the forthcoming Tattersalls December Sale.
Comprising seven foals and seven mares the partial dispersal will be consigned on behalf of Floors Stud under the banner of Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber’s Kiltinan Castle Stud, with the foals all selling on Friday 27th November followed by the broodmares on Tuesday 1st December.
Heading the draft of seven mares is the regally bred Listed placed GALILEO mare HIBISCUS, in foal to sire of the moment SIYOUNI. Out of subsequently disqualified 1000 Guineas winner JACQUELINE QUEST, the seven-year-old HIBISCUS is an own sister to Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner LINE OF DUTY and a half sister to Royal Ascot winning multiple 2020 Listed winner ONASSIS.
Two half-sisters to the great ATTRACTION also look set to attract plenty of attention, led by the Grade 3 placed FEDERATION, in foal to proven international Group 1 sire STARSPANGLEDBANNER. By MOTIVATOR, FEDERATION’s two-year-old daughter by SHALAA made an impressive winning debut in Japan and confirmed her promise when runner up in the £220,000 Momiji Stakes on her second and latest start. FEDERATION is joined by her CAPE CROSS half-sister FUSION who is not in foal.
Another outstanding broodmare synonymous with the Floors Stud legacy is the Group 1 producer COMIC, dam of Hong Kong legend VIVA PATACA and dual Grade 1 winner LAUGHING. Her Listed winning granddaughter TWITCH, attractively covered by 2019 2000 Guineas winner MAGNA GRECIA, is another eye-catching mare in the part dispersal, as is the young winning REDOUTE’S CHOICE mare DEEP INSIDE, in foal on a February cover to the great LOPE DE VEGA.
The team of mares is completed by the GALILEO mare LADY GLINKA, from the outstanding Moller family of SIR PERCY and PERCY’S LASS, in foal to TIME TEST and the very well-bred winning STREET SENSE mare MERRY JAUNT. Out of the Juddmonte bred Grade 1 winning and Grade 1 winner producer LIGHT JIG, MERRY JAUNT’s two winners to date include the Listed placed three-year-old COMPANION and she is in foal to top young sire NIGHT OF THUNDER.
Five of the above mares, FEDERATION, FUSION, HIBISCUS, LADY GLINKA and MERRY JAUNT also have foals in the part dispersal, all by top sires with 2020 Classic or Group 1 winners to their names. FEDERATION has a filly foal by LOPE DE VEGA, FUSION a colt by SIYOUNI, HIBISCUS a colt by LOPE DE VEGA, LADY GLINKA a filly by ZOFFANY and MERRY JAUNT a colt by AUSTRALIA.
The septet of foals is completed by a TIME TEST filly out of proven Group producer DUSTY ANSWER and the INVINCIBLE SPIRIT filly out of the DANEHILL DANCER mare PRANCE, who is a half-sister not only to last year’s 2000 Guineas winner MAGNA GRECIA, but also recent Group 1 Dewhurst winner ST MARK’S BASILICA.
Commenting on the Floors Stud part dispersal, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;
“The late Duke of Roxburghe was a passionate and hugely successful owner/breeder and left a lasting legacy which was never more obvious than at Book 1 of the recent October Yearling Sales where two of the six Floors yearlings sold for more than one million guineas. As with so many dispersals it is tinged with sadness, but we are proud that Tattersalls has been entrusted with the Floors Stud partial dispersal and confident that it will be amongst the highlights of Europe’s premier foal and breeding stock sale.”
Simon Marsh, General Manager of Kiltinan Castle Stud, added;
“We are honoured to have been asked to handle the partial dispersal on behalf of Floors Stud. Guy Roxburghe was a great friend and the mares and foals being sold are a wonderful and lasting testament to his commitment and success as a Classic winning breeder."
