Sir Robert Ogden Mares and Fillies to be Sold at Tattersalls December Sale
A team of 24 beautifully bred fillies and mares belonging to twice leading owner Sir Robert Ogden are to be sold at the forthcoming Tattersalls December Mares Sale which takes place November 29th - December 2nd. Heading the consignment is Sir Robert Ogden’s outstanding homebred multiple Group 1 winner AMAZING MARIA, by MASTERCRAFTSMAN, who is in foal to OASIS DREAM, sire of Europe’s highest rated two year old NATIVE TRAIL. The fillies and mares will be offered on behalf of Sir Robert Ogden from Barton Stud and will be sold on the opening two days of Europe’s premier breeding stock sale; Monday 29th November and Tuesday 30th November.
In total the consignment will number 24 lots and will comprise 17 broodmares and seven fillies in training headed by the Listed winning and Royal Ascot Group 2 placed racemare AGINCOURT who has carried the famous Sir Robert Ogden silks with great distinction in recent seasons. By DECLARATION OF WAR out of a half sister to Grade 1 winner DESERT BLANC, AGINCOURT is joined by the smart three time winning three year old TURANDOT, who is a half sister to AMAZING MARIA, as well as AMAZING MARIA’s winning four year old GOLDEN HORN half sister GOLDEN HIND, two time winning three year old IMPERIAL BUTTERFLY, by OASIS DREAM out of a half sister to AMAZING MARIA, and two year old winner RENAISSANCE, from the first crop of CARAVAGGIO. The septet of fillies in training is completed by CANTERBURY TALES, a placed three year old DARK ANGEL granddaughter of the Champion ISLINGTON and three parts sister to this year’s Group 2 Coventry Stakes winner BERKSHIRE SHADOW, and the unraced two year old daughter of ZOFFANY named APRIL IN PARIS.
The seventeen broodmares, fourteen of which are believed in foal, are equally eye-catching and feature, in addition to the outstanding AMAZING MARIA, the five year old Listed winning MASTERCRAFTSMAN mare BLUE GARDENIA, carrying a February cover to proven Group 1 sire SHOWCASING, the seven year old Listed placed GALILEO mare ISABELLA, in foal to MASTERCRAFTSMAN, the nine year old Group 3 and multiple Listed placed GALILEO mare PANDORA, also in foal to MASTERCRAFTSMAN and AMAZING MARIA’s dam MESSIAS DA SILVA. Already the dam of five winners, MESSIAS DA SILVA also has a yearling colt by GALILEO and a colt foal by the late great stallion to run for her.
AMAZING MARIA’s three year old first foal by DUBAWI, named AMAZING GRACE and in foal to TEOFILO, is another to feature prominently amongst the broodmares, as are CARPE VITA, a winning MONTJEU own sister to Classic winner LEADING LIGHT, in foal to SHOWCASING, Listed winner and Group 1 placed AMAZONAS, in foal to Champion two year old US NAVY FLAG and the winning GALILEO mare NATURAL BLOOM, whose three year old son BRIGANTE SABINO is one of this year's leading Italian three year olds having won the Gran Premio d’Italia.
