Star Two Year Old Filly Flotus To Sell At Tattersalls December Sale

Outstanding two year old filly FLOTUS, the second highest rated juvenile filly in Britain, is to be offered for sale at the forthcoming Tattersalls December Mares Sale which takes place November 29th to December 2nd. She will be offered on Tuesday 30th November from Simon and Ed Crisford’s Gainsborough Thoroughbreds and looks set to be amongst the highlights of an exceptional catalogue for Europe’s premier breeding stock sale.  

Currently officially rated 112, the Stakes winning daughter of STARSPANGLEDBANNER brought her two year old career to a conclusion with an outstanding second in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket, only being denied in the final strides by the unbeaten Aidan O’Brien filly TENEBRISM, with Group 2 winner SANDRINE three lengths adrift in third.  

Described by ‘Timeform’ as ‘the pick on looks’ when making a hugely impressive winning debut at Goodwood in May, FLOTUS was sent off favourite in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot where Heavy ground ruined her chances. She subsequently bounced back to her best form on her preferred good ground when winning the Listed Champion Two Yrs Old Trophy at Ripon, with the Group 2 placed runner-up HELLOMYDARLIN a distant 41/2 lengths behind.  

Originally purchased by Arthur Hoyeau for 125,000 guineas at Book 1 of the 2020 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, FLOTUS is the second winner out of the winning INVINCIBLE SPIRIT mare FLORIADE, and as well as boasting a smart outcross pedigree, looks an outstanding three year old prospect with her trainers Simon and Ed Crisford identifying the 1000 Guineas, for which she is currently third favourite with bookmakers William Hill, and the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup as likely early season targets next year.
