Numbering 187 breeze up two year olds and 87 horses in training, the catalogue also features four broodmares as part of a dispersal from the late Stefan Friborg. The sale takes place April 30th and May 1st, with the two year olds breezing at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse on Thursday 30th April starting at 9.00am. Guineas Breeze Up graduates enjoyed a great year on the racecourse in 2014 with seven individual Group/Listed winners, headed by the Group 2 Temple Stakes winner HOT STREAK as well as the Group winning pair of LADY PIMPERNEL and NEW PROVIDENCE. No less than 48 of the sires with two year olds catalogued have already sired Classic or Group 1 winners, including ACCLAMATION, DARK ANGEL, DUTCH ART, FASTNET ROCK, HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR, IFFRAAJ, INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, KODIAC, LE HAVRE, LOPE DE VEGA, MASTERCRAFTSMAN, PIVOTAL, RIP VAN WINKLE and STARSPANGLEDBANNER. Top class overseas based sires also feature prominently, with proven Group/Grade 1 USA based sires ANY GIVEN SATURDAY, GIANT’S CAUSEWAY, MORE THAN READY and WAR FRONT all well represented. The Horses in Training section of the sale has quickly established itself as a source of top class performers and this year’s renewal looks to be particularly enticing with eleven lots catalogued with an official rating higher than 80. There are also six lots catalogued as part of the dispersal from the late Stefan Friborg, which includes four mares catalogued in foal to southern hemisphere time. Those that look certain to attract plenty of attention include the three-year-old colt COOL STRUTTER who was fourth in a Listed race at Longchamp on his last start, the progressive four-year-old colt MR BOSSY BOOTS from Ralph Beckett’s, ENERGIA FLAVIO, officially rated 92 following a consistent winter on the All-Weather and the very consistent sprinter POYLE VINNIE, currently rated 97. Others that catch the eye include Michael O’Callaghan’s INDIAN TOMAHAWK who has won his last two starts, REALIZE who is rated 92 following his last start win for Kevin Ryan, the 97-rated VIVAT REX who has won two of his last three races and NIGEL’S DESTINY who has won three of his last four starts for Jeremy Noseda and has an official BHA rating of 89. Amongst the two-year-old breeze up lots, 45 are eligible for the Plus 10 Bonus scheme, 8 are qualified for French Owners’ Premiums and 7 are entered in the 250,000 Euros Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes. Commenting on the catalogue, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said; “Last year’s Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale attracted buyers from throughout Europe and further afield and this year’s catalogue again looks to have plenty to attract an equally diverse crowd. The combination of breeze up horses with older horses in training has proved to be a popular format and we look forward to building on the success of the previous three years.” The full breeze will be shown live on Racing UK (Sky Channel 432 and Virgin Media Channel 536) and catalogues will be available from Tattersalls and from all Tattersalls overseas representatives from Monday, 13th April.
