Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Bargain Trip To Paris Wins Gold Cup
20,000 Guineas bargain purchase TRIP TO PARIS was the headline act on the third day of the Royal Ascot meeting on a day that saw Tattersalls graduates also win the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes and Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes.
TRIP TO PARIS has been a revalation this year for trainer Ed Dunlop, winning four of his five starts for his owners, the La Grange Partnership. The four-year-old son of CHAMPS ELYSEES was purchased by agent Federico Barberini for just 20,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale from the draft of Willie Browne’s Mocklershill. He was also purchased at the December Foal Sale for 37,000 guineas by Oaks Farm Stables from The Cottage Stud.
Earlier in the day a pair of October Book 1 graduates took out the two Group 2 races on offer with WATERLOO BRIDGE winning the Norfolk Stakes for Aidan O’Brien and CURVY upsetting the favourite PLEASCACH in the Ribblesdale Stakes for trainer David Wachman.
WATERLOO BRIDGE was knocked down to Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock for 350,000 guineas at Book 1 of last year’s October Yearling Sale, having been offered from the draft of Glenvale Stud and continued the spectacular week for his sire ZOFFANY after his son WASHINGTON DC won the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes on Tuesday.
CURVY, who is a half-sister to the Irish 2,000 Guineas winner POWER, was highly sought after when she was offered at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale in 2013, realising 775,000 guineas to the bid of MV Magnier from the consignment of Lofts Hall Stud.
The next sale at Tattersalls is the July Sale that takes place from July 8 – 10. Catalogues are out now and available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives and online at www.tattersalls.com.
