Tattersalls will sponsor the 2023 running of the Group 2 Italian Oaks at Milan’s San Siro racecourse, operated by Snaitech. The ‘Oaks d’Italia Tattersalls’ will be held on Sunday, 11th June and is run over a distance of 1m 3f. First run in 1910, the historic Classic will offer a prize fund of €388,000 and joins the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas and the Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas in the list of European Classic races sponsored by Tattersalls.

As part of the sponsorship Tattersalls will offer vouchers of 15,000 guineas and 7,500 guineas to the owners of the Classic winner and runner up respectively to be spent at the 2023 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale or Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale, or at the 2024 Tattersalls Craven and Guineas Breeze Up Sales.

The 2022 Italian Oaks was won by the German filly NACHTROSE, trained by Peter Schiergen for Stall Nizza, and the race has been won in the past by Champions such as Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner DANEDREAM and influential broodmare ZOMARADAH, the dam of Champion sire DUBAWI.

The 2023 running of the Italian Oaks looks to have a strong contender from the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in last season’s leading Italian two-year-old filly ALOA. Trained by Alduino Botti for Scuderia Incolinx di Diego Romeo, ALOA won the Group 2 Premio Dormello and Listed Premio Coolmore last season and was purchased for 47,000 guineas by Valfredo Valiani from Newsells Park Stud at Book 2 of the 2021 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented;

“Tattersalls has a long standing and hugely valued relationship with Italian racing and we are delighted to add the Italian Oaks to the Tattersalls portfolio of Classic and Group 1 sponsorships in Europe. Italian buyers have always played a prominent part in the yearling and breeze up sales at Tattersalls and we are confident that the valuable bonuses will be well received.”

Ippodromi Snai’s Business Unit Managing Director Lorenzo Stoppini commented;

“We are delighted and very honoured to have the support of Tattersalls for this year’s edition of the Oaks d'Italia, due to be run on 11th June in Milan at Snai San Siro racecourse. The relationship between Tattersalls and Milan Snai San Siro racecourse over the years has been very successful and we are confident that in the future we will be able to renew and maybe expand further our collaboration.”

The next sale to be held at Tattersalls will be the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale on 17th - 19th April, the ‘breeze’ will take place at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse on Monday 17th April starting at 9.00am, with the sale taking place on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th April after the conclusion of racing on the first two days of Newmarket’s three-day Craven Meeting. Catalogues are available online or from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives.
