Misterioso Heads Runners For The £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2yo Trophy
The £1.3 million Tattersalls Millions, Europe’s most valuable sales race series, continues this Saturday with the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Trophy at Newmarket, the most valuable two-year-old race in Europe. A total of 15 have been declared for the seven furlong contest, including the Richard Hannon trained Misterioso, who finished fourth in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes last weekend. 9 fillies have been declared for the other Tattersalls Millions race of the day, the £300,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Fillies’ Trophy.
The first four home in the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Stakes, Secret Brief, Bossy Guest, Ballymore Castle and Heartbreak Hero all line up again in the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Trophy. Other notable runners include the Charlie Appleby trained Outlaw Country and Tannaaf for Mike de Kock, who both looked very promising when winning their maidens last time out.
Al Shaqab Racing’s Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes winner, Osaila, leads the runners for the £300,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Fillies’ Trophy. Lacing is another interesting contender, for Richard Fahey, having won the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Fillies’ Median Auction Stakes on her last start two weeks ago. Another to note is the Saeed Bin Suroor trained Very Special who is a half-sister to Chriselliam and was impressive when winning her maiden at Yarmouth on her first and only start.
Richard Hannon, commented; “Misterioso ran well in the Group 2 Royal Lodge last time and also comes here with a good chance. We are going to run Azmaam a bit differently on Saturday and let him go as he was a bit disappointing last time but he’s got ability. Osaila ran very well in the Moyglare which looked a really hot race so she has a good chance here.”
Those declared in the two contests cover a full spectrum of prices from the 600,000gns purchase The Warrior, through to Swot, who was purchased for 32,000 guineas.
There are two more races scheduled in the 2014/15 £1.3 million Tattersalls Millions series, both of which take place at The Craven Meeting next year, with £300,000 prize money on offer.
Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, featuring the only yearlings eligible for next year’s £1.3 million Tattersalls Millions series takes place from 7 – 9 October.
