Richard Hannon Extends Lead in Trainers Championship with Valuable Tattersalls Millons Win
Tell Dad, who has run every month since April, finally landed the big one today for connections when winning the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Trophy at Newmarket Racecourse’s Rowley Mile. The colt, who is owned by the CEO of Eddie Stobart Group, Andrew Tinkler and trained by Richard Hannon, won a total of £110,000 which extends Richard Hannon’s lead at the top of the Trainers Championship.Catalogues are out now and available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives and online.
Tell Dad, who only ran three days ago in a Conditions Race at Sandown Park, was always prominent in the race and won comfortably from Alkazim, who was send over from Ireland by David Wachman and Mehdi, who won the first Tattersalls Millions race of the series at the end of August.
Tim Jones, racing manager for Andrew Tinkler commented after the race, “We were surprised that he was ready to run so early this season and he’s been to Newmarket a lot, where he’s always run consistently, so he deserved that win, especially with all the prize money that was on offer. He has held his form well all season and we gelded him after Ascot. I’m not sure where he will go next, but this race series is so valuable you can’t ignore it. The horse is in the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale at the end of October.”
Tell Dad was bought for 72,000gns from Tweenhills Farm and Stud by Dwayne Woods at last year’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1.
