Wedding Ring Victorious In Tattersalls Millions 2yo Fillies’ Trophy
Charlie Appleby saddled WEDDING RING to win the 14 runner £300,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Fillies’ Trophy at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse today, the last 2YO fillies race of the 2013/14 Tattersalls Millions series.
The daughter of Oasis Dream was bought by John Ferguson from Book 1 of the 2012 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale from Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber’s Watership Down Stud. WEDDING RING’S half-brother by Invincible Spirit, consigned by New England Stud, is lot 314 in this year’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1.
After the race Charlie Appleby commented, “There was no gallop early on, Martin dropped her in and rode a nice patient race and she saw the trip out well off that gallop. She’s always been a filly that we earmarked to potentially go to Dubai and we are looking at her as a potential Guineas filly especially after what she’s done today. She’ll go to the Guineas trial in February over seven furlongs, then we will step her up to a mile and we’ll see where we are. On evidence I see no reason why she shouldn’t get a mile. She’s been ultra-consistent this year and it took nothing away from her when we ran her at the July meeting. We thought she perhaps didn’t get the trip but I think on evidence there were some smart fillies in front of her.”
The Richard Hannon trained MANDERLEY was second for owner Julie Wood, with FASHION FUND for Brian Meehan in third.
There are two more races scheduled in the 2013/14 Tattersalls Millions race series, which take place at Newmarket Rowley Mile’s Craven Meeting in 2014, with £300,000 still on offer.
Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, featuring the only yearlings eligible for next year’s series takes place from 8th – 10th October and are at Tattersalls available for inspection.
